difficult languagesLearning a new language can be an amazing experience, but at the same time it’s something that can pose an interesting challenge as well. Some languages are harder to learn than others, and they do 1require a lot of training in order to master them the right way. This is why we have created a list with some of the hardest languages to learn!

Korean and Japanese

Both of these languages require no less than 2000 hours or even more to master. According to some studies, only when you pass the 1000 hours mark of intense studies will you actually be able to speak properly. Most of the challenge here comes from the alphabet and graphics which are very hard to master.

Arabic

Arabic is another language that requires thousands of hours in order to learn and master. The graphical alphabet and interesting way of reading make it very difficult to master, especially for an English native. That’s why you have to be patient and repeat the language a lot. However, it’s well worth it and an amazing investment into your language luggage since there are multiple countries where you have to speak this fluently in order to get around.

Chinese

Be it Cantonese or mandarin, both these dialects require a lot of dedication when it comes to learning them. From the written side to speaking, it’s very hard for an English native to learn these because Chinese has nothing in common with English, and thus the difficulty level is high.

Zulu

One of the most difficult African languages, Zulu is indeed very hard to understand for English natives and that’s the main reason why it can be a very challenging language to learn. However, it requires less time to learn than the aforementioned ones, as a total of around 1500 hours will help you master it.

Finnish

Finnish is a hard language just like all the other Nordic ones, but the thing that makes it different is that unlike Norwegian and Swedish which are a little similar, this one has many differences and a different grammar. This ramps up the difficulty and thus it does need around 1200 words to learn it properly.

Hungarian

Hungarian is different than many languages because it does come with a complicated set of linguistics and a challenging grammar. Still, you will need roughly the same time as Finnish, as in around 1200 hours you will be able to master it the right way.

Thai

Another Asian language that’s very difficult, Thai is indeed one of the most challenging languages you can learn out there. However, it’s not as hard as Japanese and in around 1100 hours you can learn it properly.

All in all, there are quite a lot of languages that are very difficult to learn. Still, the ones included in our list clearly require a lot of time and patience in order to learn them properly, but the results will indeed be great, so keep that in mind and you will have no problem learning these languages!
